Students will view Hidden Figures please the letter below:
Parental note: Dear Parents, I plan on showing the film “Hidden Figures” in my class the rest of this week. This PG rated movie is the story of a team of female African-American mathematicians who served a vital role in NASA during the early years of the U.S. space program...This lesson covers NCDPI 8th Grade Social Studies standards C&G.1.4 and 8H.3.2. Although this film is rated PG, it is a frank and explicit description of bias, prejudice, and racism in the South during the early 1960s. It shows character, courage, and determination of the three main characters to overcome the odds, and break barriers in STEM for African Americans as well as women. If you have any questions in which you would like to discuss, please email me at: [email protected] . Thanks... |
