Upcoming Events in Science: Tuesday, September 18: Quiz on Types of Matter Mrs. Nelson Bio: I have lived in various cities throughout the south and have traveled extensively in the USA and Europe. In 1998, I switched my B.A. focus to English Literature and graduated from North Carolina State University in 2002. Married in 2003, I was blessed with twins in 2009. In 2010 I returned to North Carolina State University to obtain a Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction (graduated in 2012). I currently live in the Middle Creek High School area. I have a dog, Max and a cat, Aurora. I have been teaching for 15 years. ELA Announcements * ELA Policy Letter: A letter outlining policies and procedures for English Language Arts was sent home on the first day of school – Aug. 27. Most students in Mrs. Nelson’s classes have not turned this letter in for parent/student acknowledgment. Please see my website at www.classnelson.com for a copy of the letter. Due to copy allocations, I am unable to send another letter home. A reminder slip requiring a parent signature was sent home Tuesday, September 5, 2018. Parents and Guardians needs to sign and have their student return to Mrs. Nelson as soon as possible. * Novels: Inside Out and Back Again novels were assigned and sent home to all ELA students on Tuesday, September 5, 2018. Students are responsible for the novel assigned to them. Students will be held accountable for damaged and lost books. All students were given a Ziplock back to keep their book in – providing a safe and protective “pocket” for the novels. |
Team News: Student Behavior Tracker
Students will bring home a weekly "Student Behavior Tracker" every Friday for your signature. The Student Behavior Tracker provides students, teachers and parents/guardians with a quick snapshot of student academic and social behavior. Use of this strategy/tool helps students develop, maintain, and monitor positive behaviors that are necessary for school success. Students will earn a reward each quarter based on the data(information ) on their Student Behavior Tracker. Unfortunately, some behaviors will eliminate students from participation in a quarterly reward. However, students will have a new opportunity each quarter; because, they will receive a new Student Behavior Tracker. Stay tuned for more information.
